Catholic priest Matthew Ndagoso, the Catholic Bishop of the Archdiocese of Kaduna, has warned Christians not to vote for any political party of the same faith in the 2023 elections.
Bishop Ndagosu revealed this on Monday during an event in Kaduna, revealing that the same faith card does not promote equality, fairness and unity in a country as diverse as Nigeria.
Remember, the All Progressives Congress, APC, was attacked by some Nigerians for inserting the Muslim Muslim Card of Ahmed Bola Tinubu and Kshim Shetema.
However, the cleric indicated that religion is an important factor to be considered in the nation’s social and political pact, and that political parties or presidential candidates should take it into account when determining their choices for elections.
“Nigeria is a very diverse country, we come from different cultural backgrounds, religious backgrounds and social backgrounds and our diversity is not a curse. They are blessings from God.
All we need are leaders who will be able to manage and harness these diversity to enrich our country. Therefore, the kind of leader Nigeria needs is someone who has the ability to manage our differences, bring everyone together and give everyone a sense of belonging.”
He also called on President Muhammadu Buhari to secure the country before the upcoming elections to enable Nigerians to exercise their right to vote.
