2023: Governor Abiodun submits N472 billion budget to Ogun Assembly

The Governor of Ogun State, Dabo Abiodun, has submitted the fourth budget of his administration to the Ogun State House of Representatives.

The appropriations bill on Thursday was brought before lawmakers in a session chaired by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Olakunle Olomu.

Presenting the budget, Abiodun said the total proposed expenditure of the state government is N472.25 billion in 2023.

According to him, N201.84 billion has been proposed as recurrent expenditure, while N270.41 billion has been included as capital expenditure.

The governor estimated personnel costs at 79.47 billion naira; social contribution and social benefits at N21.12 billion; Public debt charges at 39.90 billion n. overhead cost at N61.35 billion; While the capital expenditure is N270.41billion.

In his speech, Abiodun pleaded with the leadership of the State House of Representatives to ensure that the budget was comprehensive, but urgently scrutinized and returned diligently for his approval.

He said that all the contents of the bill stemmed from the wishes expressed by the people of Ogun at the various Budget Town Hall meetings held earlier.

“I would be grateful, if we maintain our standard set for signing the Appropriations Act before January 1st of next year,” he said.
