2023 is the time to punish the politicians who caused the religious division – Al-Rifai
Kaduna State Governor Nasir Al-Rifai said it was time to punish politicians who cause religious divisions in the country.
Al-Rifai said the 2023 elections will be used to punish politicians who use religion as a tool to create division.
He spoke during his assignment to the main office of the Sultan Foundation for Peace and Development.
The governor urged the royal fathers to pray and ensure peaceful and credible elections in 2023.
He lamented the use of churches and religious centers by some politicians for campaigns.
I believe this election gives us a very unique opportunity to remove religion from politics in Nigeria and to punish those who try to use religion as a tool.
“But some people are campaigning in churches, others are holding internal meetings with religious leaders to further the ethnic and religious divide, and this is the last thing Nigeria needs now at a time when the whole world is facing the challenges of ultra-nationalism and the disruption of the global supply chain,” he said.
Recently, politicians such as the Labor Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, have visited some of the largest churches in Nigeria.
