People’s Democratic Party presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar on Tuesday berated former education minister, Obi Ezekwesili, for being frivolous.
On Monday, Atiku, while speaking at an event organized by the Nigerian Economic Summit Group, NESG, claimed that he played a key role in designing the strategy of reviving the private sector and opening up the economy to private sector investment in several sectors.
But Ezekwesili, who served with Atiku during former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s administration, called the former vice president a liar.
However, speaking through his spokesperson, Paul Ibe, Atiku accused the former minister of resorting to “tiring banality”.
He tweeted: “Dear @obyezeks, I know it’s political season and people resort to all sorts of antics to support their favorite candidates. But some things should be considered very low.
In trying — and failing — to weaken his standing in public, let us not resort to this kind of tired platitudes.
“If Atiku wasn’t the head of the economic management team in his capacity as vice president, then who was? You?”
