2023: Wrong to say ‘Amy Lucan’ – Obasanjo pulls Tinubu out
Former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo has condemned the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, for saying “Amy Lucan.”
Tinubu, while preparing for the APC presidential primaries, had claimed he was the next person to become President of Nigeria, saying, “It’s my turn.”
In Sunday’s message, Obasanjo said: “Let me say right away that ‘Emi Lokan’ (My turn) and ‘I’ve paid my dues’ are the same and are the wrong attitude and mentality of Nigeria’s leadership right now.”
These claims, according to Obasanjo, “cannot constitute a new base for reinventing and investing in a new Nigeria based on the All-Nigerian Government for the liberation and restoration of Nigeria.”
Obasanjo said that no individual can claim to have the absolute solutions to Nigeria’s problems, stating that “the solution should be in ‘us’ and ‘we’ and not in ‘me’ and ‘me'”.
