7 dead and 29 injured at the Calabar Carnival – FRSC
The Federal Road Safety Authority (FRSC) said seven people were killed and 29 injured after an accident during the Calabar Carnival on Tuesday.
River crossing sector commander Maikano Hassan, confirmed to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the number of casualties.
Hassan said the tragedy struck the event in front of the Juma Mosque in Bujuberi in Calabar during the motorcyclists’ carnival activity.
Among the wounded were 21 men, three women, two children and three girls.
They were taken to the Naval Hospital and University of Calabar Teaching Hospital (UCTH).
The FAB Council said that the remains of the dead were deposited in two government hospitals in Calabar.
Hassan confirmed that the Toyota Camry lost control and collided with a crowd of onlookers.
