The Nigerian Human Rights Writers Association (HURIWA) has accused a UK-based media organization of being bent on escalating security issues in Nigeria.
According to the advocacy group, it is now very clear that the news agency has an agenda to destroy the Nigerian military by weakening its war on terror.
The media house had recently issued a report launching a wave of allegations against the Nigerian army.
The report on clandestine abortion clinics in the Northeast of the country sparked a lot of controversy in the country with many individuals and organizations against the media house.
In a statement on Friday, the National Coordinator for Freedom, Comrade Emmanuel Onubiko called on the International Criminal Court to take action to arrest and prosecute the news service’s editors immediately.
The group noted that the editors were complicit in their refusal to expose an alleged clandestine and illegal abortion program in the Northeast since 2013.
Hariwa said that for this reason the liberators should be arrested and prosecuted by the International Criminal Court in The Hague for war crimes.
Instead of ropes in the Nigerian army, the group said, Marie Stopes International Nigeria, a UK-based NGO, admitted that the organization averted unwanted pregnancies in 59,452 women in Borno between 2021 and the first quarter of 2022.
Freedom pointed out that it had warned a few days ago that some foreign elements would fan the flames of hatred against the Nigerian army and spread false news against the security apparatus.
“Reuters has been complicit in preparing a report on what it calls abortion clinics in the northeast of the country since 2013 but has kept it to itself,” said Onubiko from Horewa.
He should be prosecuted by the International Criminal Court. The Reuters editors should be arrested and prosecuted by the International Criminal Court.
“Reuters has an agenda to destroy Nigeria’s war on terror by promoting completely disjointed allegations against the military.”
