African politicians have mastered the art of stomach attraction – Lumumba

Professor Patrick Lumumba said that Africa should avoid the politics of money and embrace the politics of ideas to realize its full potential.

The renowned legal practitioner was the former Director of the Kenya Anti-Corruption Commission (KACC).

He delivered a speech in Abuja on Monday at the 10th Abubakar Saraki Memorial Lecture, NAN reports.

Lumumba stated that Africa will not grow as long as the leaders keep pouring out the money.

The speaker said they had “mastered the art of wooing with their stomachs rather than the brains of men and women”.

Lumumba warned that Africa “will not realize its potential as long as we divide our people along ethnic lines.”

He accused those who hold positions of honor and privilege of “dividing our people on the basis of religion.”

The anti-corruption activist said the specter of race, ignorance and poverty must be cast aside for the continent to prosper.

Lumumba urged African leaders to be frank and transparent so that the people can hold them accountable.
