Aisha Buhari: NANS plan to protest while court sends Aminu Adamu to jail

The National Association of Nigerian Students has announced its readiness to embark on a nationwide protest in a bid to demand the release of Aminu Adamu Muhammad who has been arrested by securitymen for tweeting against the wife of President Ayesha Buhari.

Remember, Aminu, a student at Federal University, Dotsei, Jigawa State, was arrested last week by security agents and taken to Abuja due to comments about Aisha’s weight.

He was arraigned on Tuesday before the Federal Capital District, Federal Capital District No. 14 High Court, and was subsequently jailed.

Spurred on by the development, the NANS leadership, in a statement issued by its President, Usman Omar Barambu, decided to hold a nationwide protest on Monday, December 5th.

The statement said that the demonstration, which will be against Inspector General of Police Osman Al-Qalali Baba and the wife of President Aisha Muhammad Buhari, will continue until the student is released unconditionally.

The statement read: “Continuing to exhaust every option available to us prior to confrontation in seeking the release of one of us, who has been detained in a suspicious manner, tortured, harassed, harassed and detained by government agents, you hereby are notified of the decision of the leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students to proceed with a protest nationwide.

“We have consulted, promoted and produced no desirable results in seeking the freedom of Aminu Adamu Mohamed, a student at the Federal University of Dotsei, and therefore, the protest will proceed as follows:

Monday, December 5, 2022, a national protest. Note that the demonstration will continue until his unconditional release.

“The sit-in against the Inspector General of Police, Osman Qalali Baba and the wife of President Aisha Muhammad Buhari.”
