Atiku rejected Jonathan’s plea to support his re-election bid in 2015 – WAIC

Rivers State Governor Nesom Wake revealed that former Chief Goodluck Jonathan pleaded with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to support his candidacy for re-election in 2015.

However, Wike revealed that Atiku refused to support Jonathan’s pleas to support his re-election bid.

The governor spoke when Governor Dave Omahi of Ebonyi State commissioned the Akpapo-Ito-Amodioga road in the Rivers Local Government Area of Imohwa.

“Jonathan flew to the Dorchester Hotel in London to meet with Atiku, but instead Jonathan’s former vice-president asked to give up his ticket to him in 2015,” Wake said.

Jonathan, who was the PDP’s presidential candidate in 2015, was defeated in the election by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Meanwhile, Atiku and his running mate, Ifeney Okwa, visited Jonathan a few days ago.

The visit is not far from the crisis gripping the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP).

Wake has been at odds with Atiku and the party leadership since he lost his bid to become the PDP’s presidential candidate.
