Atiku Shehu shares the demands of Borno, and speaks with difficulty of insecurity, Lake Chad
The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has vowed to get tough regarding the insecurity in Borno if he is elected.
The former vice president lamented the state of the Northeast and Lake Chad Basin and the state’s “exorbitant” tax policy.
Atiku spoke on Wednesday while addressing DPP supporters at Ramat Square in the capital Maiduguri.
He and his entourage had earlier visited Sheikho Borno Haji Abu Bakr Garba, who demanded to focus on certain areas if Atiku wins.
In the campaign arena, the brigade-bearer gave details of his discussion with the king.
We were asked to address about four or five issues that represent the problems in Borno.
The first is restoring peace and security. By God’s grace, we will restore peace and order to Borno State.
“Secondly, we were asked to make sure that development of the Chad Basin is revitalized so that farmers can return to the farm.”
Atiku revealed that Sheikho also sought to intervene regarding electricity in local government areas.
The DPP flag bearer said people are tired of hunger, insecurity and unemployment.
Minister Adamoa added, “Enough of the suffering, enough of the excessive taxes.”
Atiku thanked the residents for coming out to receive the campaign train that was attacked.
In response, the DPP announced that the ruling All Progressives Congress had sponsored thugs to ambush his convoy.
