Attacking Buhari and Emfili: Rifai and Others Desperate to Buy Votes – CNPP

The Congress of Nigerian Political Parties, CNPP, has accused Kaduna State Governor Nasir Al-Rifai and other governors of the All Progressives Congress, APC, of being desperate to buy votes before the general elections next weekend.

In a statement on Saturday signed by its Secretary General, President Willie Izogo, the CNPP urged Nigerians in Kaduna and other parts of the country to ignore El Rifai for their own good as only the CBN can give directions on legal bidding in Nigeria on behalf of the President.

CNPP made its assertion while calling on Nigerians not to fall for what it described as the actions of the APC governors as they are not fighting for the welfare of the citizens, saying that “the leaders of the opposition People’s Congress party are attacking President Muhammadu Buhari and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor Godwin Emfiele because they are desperate to buy votes knowingly that the APC has failed.”

It also urged Buhari to summon Rifai to order “the declaration of Kaduna State as a sovereign state by requesting the population to continue to recognize the old N500 and N1000 banknotes as legal tender contrary to presidential directives”.

The CNPP also reiterated its call for the main bank to work out modalities for exchanging old naira notes to the Nigerian population, who may have been duped by APC wallets into keeping their money until the expiry of the naira swap deadline.

Daily Post reports that this comes less than two days after Al-Rifai addressed the people of Kaduna State amid scarcity of new naira notes following the redesign of N200, N500 and N1000 notes from CBN.
