Ahead of Saturday’s gubernatorial elections, renowned Nigerian social critic and humorist Debo Adebayo, better known as Mr. Macaroni, has advised Lagos residents to beware of those fanning embers of tribal hatred.
Mr. Macaroni expressed his sadness that some people had published inflammatory contents against the tribes.
His statement is contained in a post via his verified Twitter account.
He said that people should not allow those who pursue their own interests to stir up hatred among Nigerians.
“It is sad to see people posting content that is inflammatory against the tribes. We used to live together in a unit. Doing business together and marrying ourselves.
“Do not let people, out of their own interest, cause hatred between us.
Let’s say no to tribal war!
“Let us preach peace,” he wrote on Twitter.
