Biafra: Solodu calls for the release of Nnamdi Kanu

The Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukuma Charles Solodo, has called for the immediate and unconditional release of the Indigenous Leader of Biafra (IPOB), Mr. Nnamdi Kanu.

Solodo said he is willing to stand as collateral for the separatist leader, if he is released, if the federal government finds it difficult to release him unconditionally.

While hoisting the flag, Solodo spoke about the party’s campaigns, which witnessed the presence of the party’s presidential candidate, Prof. Peter Omidi, and other party candidates in the state and southeast.

He said, “I am making a fervent plea to the Federal Government to release Mazi Nnamdi Kano unconditionally. If he cannot be released unconditionally, I want him to be released to me, and I will be insured for him.”

We need Nnamdi Kano at the Roundtable to discuss insecurity in the Southeast. We must put an end to insecurity in the southeast and we want Nnamdi Kano to be there.

“A while ago, we set up the Truth and Reconciliation Commission to find the root cause of the insecurity in the Southeast and they are almost done with their mission.

But this issue of insecurity cannot be well addressed without bringing the key players to the negotiating table.

We have implemented kinetic and non-kinetic approaches to fight insecurity in the Southeast, but the non-kinetic approach cannot be complete without the release of Mazie Nnamdi Kanu by the federal government.

“We have to bring him to the negotiating table because we want him to be part of this process and I call on the federal government to release Nnamdi Kanu Lee, so that we can have a comprehensive discussion on the fate of the southeast.

“If we cannot release him on court proceedings, I hereby offer myself as security for his release, and I will deliver him to you at your will.

“We will give him shelter and give him a home,” he said, “and make this appeal in true faith in the spirit of peace in the Southeast.”
