Mostafa Ashraf, a player of the German “Borussia Monchengladbach” team, confirmed that he prefers to represent the Egyptian national team over Germany due to his origin.
Mustafa Ashraf said during a television interview to the “Remontada” program broadcast on the “Al-Mehwar” channel: “I prefer to play for the Egyptian national team rather than the German national team, because my origin is mainly Egyptian.”

He added: “I play in the same position as Mohamed Elneny and I hope to be in great form with Mönchengladbach in the coming period.”
In turn, his father Ashraf Amin said: “Carlos Queiroz nominated my two sons, Mustafa, for the Egyptian national team.”
He added: “Omer Marmoush was called up and Queiroz opened the door for Egyptian professionals in Germany to join the Egyptian national team and the ball in Germany is very different from Egypt and there is no compliment.”
And he continued: “My son played for the German national team in some age groups, but he wants to represent the Egyptian national team, and the professionalism in Germany is more than in Egypt. His personal expense.”
And he added: “There must be professionalism and the costs of any invitations must be borne by the Football Association.”
