BREAKING: Cash Crisis: President Buhari addresses Nigerians
Today, Thursday, Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari will broadcast programs nationwide.
This was revealed by Bashir Ahmed, the presidential aide.
He tweeted late Wednesday evening: “President Muhammadu Buhari will broadcast tomorrow, February 16, 2023, at 7 am.
“TV, radio stations and other electronic media are obligated to connect to the services of NTA Network and Radio Nigeria for broadcasting.”
This comes amid a worsening scarcity of new naira notes.
Angry citizens added to their pressure on Wednesday, with protests occurring simultaneously across the country.
Aside from the attacks on some financial institutions, deaths have also been recorded as the security services try to quell the uprising.
The DAILY POST reports that before the February 10 deadline, President Buhari asked Nigerians to give his government one week to resolve issues arising from the scarcity of naira notes.
However, as the deadline expired and the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, insisted there would be no going back, there was a grave silence from the presidency.
Efforts by some state governments to obtain a reprieve from the Supreme Court also yielded no result as the Central Bank of Nigeria remained adamant in its position despite the Supreme Court’s default order.
