BREAKING: Shepherds butcher a family of six, others, eight bodies recovered in Benue

At least eight bodies have been found after a deadly attack in Abagana community, Makurdi, the capital of Benue state, by armed men suspected of being Fulani herders.

It was carried out late Thursday when armed men invaded the community near the internally displaced persons (IDP) camp, IDPs, in Abagana, said the Special Adviser on Security Affairs to the Governor of Benue State, Paul Himba, who confirmed the incident to our reporter.

According to Paul Hemba, security personnel and other villagers combed the bush in the community looking for more victims who were said to have been shot by the invaders.

He said that members of a family of six were all killed in the unfortunate attack.

Himba further stated that the attack was unprovoked as the villagers were already ready to go to sleep when they met their sudden death at the hands of Fulani bandits.

According to the security advisor, the number of casualties is likely to rise because some other people who were fatally shot may not survive their chest injuries.
