BVAS will positively affect the quality of the 2023 elections – Osun REC, Agboke

Osun State Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Resident Election Commissioner Dr Mutiu Olaliki Agbok has stated that the introduction of a dual-mode voter accreditation system (BVAS) will positively impact the quality of the outcome of the 2023 election.

Agboke also stated that the introduction of BVAS in the 2023 general election will reverse the trend of the voting pattern of Nigerians.

Agboke announced this while appearing on Friday’s current affairs radio show in Osogbo.

Osun REC also added that the commission will begin the voter verification process in accordance with Section 19, Subsection 1 and 2 of the Voter Guidelines.

In his words, “INEC voter registration is to correct all deviations at the local government and departmental level.

“The BVAS is for voting and transferring election results to the INEC portal.

“For the 2023 general election, the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) will not use occurrence forms. Therefore, if the BVAS rejects an elector, there will be no vote for that individual.

“BVAS is a game changer and I want to stress that with BVAS, there will be no over-voting.”

Regarding the fire incident at INEC’s Ede South local government office on Thursday, Agboke revealed that only the conference room was affected.

He also revealed that all the permanent voter cards (PVC) and other sensitive materials were safe and transported to INEC headquarters in Osogbo.

He stressed that the security presence has been increased in all offices of the National Elections Committee in the state.
