President Muhammadu Buhari has been asked to sack the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Godwin Emifiele, for his reliance on voodoo economics.
Recently, Emefiele has been linked to fraud, diverting government funds, and perpetuating unhealthy practices in forex management in the country.
However, a pro-democracy group, the Coalition Against Corrupt Leaders in Nigeria, CACLN, said Emefiele should be removed from office.
CACLN made the call when they stormed the presidential villa to protest Emefiele’s continuation as CBN governor.
The protest, which was posted under the title “Emefiele Must Go”, was very popular.
Addressing reporters during the protest, Dauda Yakubu, the group’s organizer, said Emefili had desecrated the revered main bank.
Yakubu lamented that Emefiele had made the country a laughing stock in the courtesy of the Gentiles.
He stressed that Imfiele was not fit to continue in his position as Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria.
He said, “The Governor of CBN, Godwin Emifiele, has not only defiled the venerable Central Bank of Nigeria but also made the country a laughing stock in his courtesy of nations.
His penchant for voodoo economics is also legendary. Political briefings and inconsistencies in fiscal policies have already hurt the country’s economy in unimaginable ways.
“It remains a mystery how a country-sensitive Central Bank Governor of Nigeria gets involved in partisan politics by vying for the position of president who spends billions of naira from the coffers of the Central Bank in his political ambition.”
The group said Emifyli introduced a redesign of Naira to cover up some of his anomalies that persisted in office.
