Champions League: It’s the trophy I have to win – Guardiola admits

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has admitted his time at the club would not be complete without lifting the Champions League.

City have reached the final of the competition once and have also lost in the semi-finals and been knocked out of the quarter-finals three times on their record.

Guardiola has suggested his legacy will be measured by his results in Europe’s elite competition.

“I admit this is the trophy we want, and my spell here wouldn’t be complete if we didn’t win it.

“But that’s not the only reason I played. I’ll do everything for the club. Of course this is the trophy we don’t have and we’ll try to get it.

“I have a feeling they will get it sooner or later, we’ve tried in the past. We’ll try with all our might,” Guardiola said.

City will meet RB Leipzig when the Champions League returns from the round of 16 in February.
