Osun State Police Command announced that youth and street carnivals planned for Christmas were banned.
The leadership also reveals that they are acting on intelligence they have been provided that indicates that the Miscreants, in the guise of a street carnival, have planned to wreak havoc.
In a press release signed by Yemisi Opalola, a spokesperson for the command, the police ordered all carnival organizers to hire or use gated complexes to celebrate their festivals.
Intelligence benefited from the leadership suggesting that miscreants in the guise of a street carnival are planning to carry out mayhem; as such, the leadership is using this forum to inform the general public that a street carnival will not be tolerated in any way shape or form.
Therefore, all carnival organizers are required to rent halls or use gated complexes to carry out/celebrate their festival.
“Parents/guardians alike are cautioned to advise their children/guardians to desist from any action that could endanger the peace of this season,” the statement read.
While advising residents of the state to go about their lawful business and celebrate in peace, the leadership also warned that anyone caught or found wanting would face the full wrath of the law.
