Nigerian police forces have warned against the use of fireworks and other public disturbances, especially during Christmas celebrations in Jigawa State.
This was stated by Police Commissioner Emmanuel Ekot-Efium in a statement released to reporters.
He cautioned parents/guardians to warn their wards against any act of public nuisance.
He said that the leadership will not hesitate to tighten the screws on anyone who might want to take advantage of this period to stir up trouble or disrupt public peace.
Therefore, the commissioner called on members of the public to be security aware and report any suspicious movement to the nearest police or other security agencies for immediate action.
He said the leadership also ordered a strong deployment of officers and men to church precincts and other public spaces.
However, the Communist Party congratulated the Christian community in Jigawa State and the country in general as they celebrated Christmas while urging them to emulate the figure of Christ.
