Dancing ‘Skelewu’ in INEC’s office with clowns won’t give you victory – APC campaign tells Atiku
The All Progressives Congress (APC) mocked Atiku Abubakar, the People’s Democratic Party candidate, for leading a protest on Monday.
On Monday in Abuja, Atiku led a protest to the national headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the Daily Post reported.
In response, APC advised Atiku to convince his lawyer to plead his case in court rather than lead a street protest in Abuja.
Bayo Onanuga, Director of Media and Publicity, Presidential Campaign Council of the General People’s Congress (PCC) said when Atiku told the entire world last Thursday that he would seek redress in court over the outcome of the February 25 presidential election, little did the ruling party know that he did not plan to be guided by his promise.
He said the ruling party does not believe Atiku is so unemployed that it has time to disturb the public peace over the outcome of the election, which it has already said it will challenge in court.
Going back to Atiku’s political ancestors, Onanuga added, it was not surprising that, days later, he led a group of protesters, “No Clowns” in Abuja, to the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
He noted that the protest organized by the leaders of the “fragmented” Democratic Progressive Party and its presidential candidate would not provide a window of victory for the main opposition party.
Onanuga stressed that instead of Atiku and his party spending their time wisely to gather so-called evidence which they hope to bring before the courts, they are busy dancing ‘skelewu’ in the streets and causing traffic nuisance to residents of Abuja.
Onanuga wondered how a meager crowd protest would provide any window of victory for Atiku and the PDP.
According to him, the only avenue available to Atiku after the electoral ruling declared Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the elected president, is the Electoral Petition Court.
He added, “Atiku and his motley horde were a new low of perennial loser in elections.”
