Delta Schools: Okwa has set a retirement age of 65 and 40 years of service

Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has approved 65 as the retirement age for faculty and non-teaching staff at Delta Public Schools.

The approval covers civil servants working in polytechnics and colleges of education run by the state government.

The government also approved 40 years as a year of service for faculty members and non-teachers.

Information Commissioner Charles Anyago said the decision was taken at the state executive council meeting on Monday.

Other approvals included upward review of road projects, and new road contracts, among others.

“Teachers and non-teachers in Delta Public Schools can be in office until the age of 65.

“Teachers can also be in office for up to 40 years,” the official said.

Until now, the retirement age was 60, while 35 was the allowable years of service.
