The average cost of domestic air tickets increased from NBS 37,022.97 in November 2021 to N73,267.57 in November 2022, which is an increase of 97.09%, according to the National Bureau of Statistics, NBS.
The DAILY POST learned this Monday in NBS’s latest Transport Fare Watch report for November 2022.
It also indicated that the average single-journey ticket price increased by 0.09% from N73,198.65 in October to N73,267.57 in November 2022.
“In air fare, the average fare paid by air passengers for a single trip on selected routes increased by 0.09% per month from N73,198.65 in October 2022 to N73,267.57 in November 2022.
On an annual basis, the fare increased by 97.90 percent from 37,022.97 N in November 2021.”
She added that the states with the highest average prices for plane tickets in a single trip include Taraba (77,100), Delta (76,500) and Bayelsa and Oyo with 76,100 naira each.
In N67,100, N70,000, N70,100, Niger, Gombe, Nasarawa recorded the lowest airfares.
