Ebony Ghaber: An APGA candidate, Odoh obtained a court order to restrain the police and security services from his arrest

Benard Odoh, the ruling candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, in Ebonyi State, on Monday said he had obtained an order from the Owerri High Court in Case No: HOW/194/2023 dated March 3, 2023, to restrict the failure of the Nigerian Police and other security agencies of the state to harassing or arresting him.

I recall that the Governor of Ebonyi State, David Omahi, said he would ensure that those arrested in connection with the murder of HRH would be charged with fingers. Ezeogo Igboke Ewa of Umuezeokaoha in Ezza North LGA will be arrested and prosecuted.

The Nigerian Police, Ebonyi State Command, declared Odoh and five others “wanted”.

In a statement signed and made available to reporters in Abakaliki by his campaign, media and publicity manager, Charles Otto, the ruling candidate said it was baseless, false and unwarranted that the Nigerian police had declared him, wanted for a matter before the court of law.

He said Nigerian law still presumes the accused to be innocent until proven guilty by a competent court.

Udoh further stated that he knew nothing of the assassination of the traditional ruler, His Royal Highness. Ezeogo Igboke Ewa is from Umuezeokaoha in Ezza North LGA.

He pointed out that the Inspector General of Police, “IGB” and other security agencies had received the court order, stressing that the Public Security Directorate stopped all procedures related to the court immediately upon receiving the aforementioned order.

The APC gubernatorial candidate has expressed serious concern as to why the Commissioner of Ebonyi State Police Command, which is under the IGP, continues to take further action in the matter in contravention of the court order.

He said the allegations were politically motivated and aimed at undermining his chances of winning the Ebonyi State gubernatorial election on Saturday.

Udoh pledged never to flee for any reason, and indicated his willingness to follow up and seek to resolve what he described as false and misleading allegations against him by legal and peaceful means.
