Election 2023: The United States talks about the preferred candidate, the party

The US government has insisted that it does not have a preferred candidate in the Nigerian general election.

This was stated by the Consul General of the United States, Will Stevens, during a city council meeting organized by the Niger-Delta Open Observatory, NOGO, in Asaba, Delta State, on Saturday.

Stevens also warned that those who incite electoral violence would be denied visas by the US government.

“The United States does not have a favorite candidate, stop! We are not interested in a particular party or candidate.

“What matters to us is free, fair, and credible elections that represent the people,” Stevens said.

“The United States will discourage any politicians, citizens or other parties that encourage electoral violence or seek to undermine the electoral process,” he added.
