Election of Governor: Lagos Publicity Secretary PDP talks about party forming alliance with LP

The Lagos state branch of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) said on Monday that it is not formally speaking with the Labor Party (LP) about any possible alliance ahead of the March 11 elections for the Board of Governors and the House of Representatives.

This was stated by Mr. Hakim Amod, Publicity Secretary of the Lagos PDP, in a statement in Lagos.

Amodi, who is also the Chairman of the Media and Publicity Board, JandorFunke 2023 Campaign Council, was responding to speculation from various quarters that opposition parties in Lagos are planning to form an alliance ahead of Saturday’s elections.

He said it was credible to debunk the allegations of the LP candidate, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, that he was talking to the “real owners of the PDP structure in Lagos State”.

According to him, the statement attributed to Rhodes-Vivore came across as disrespectful to the PDP, and he insisted that no one could claim the party’s ownership structure.

Amode’s statement read in part, “The PDP is a proper democratic party and is the only state executive officer of the party as recognized by the national body who can be described as the guardian of the PDP under the leadership of the party’s ruling candidate Dr. Abdol-Aziz Olajid Adiran (Chandour).

“So, whoever Gbadebo Rhodes-Favor is talking to, he is only representing himself and not the Lagos PDP as there is no official conversation between the two parties at the moment.

“Gandor does not plan to stand down for any candidate.”
