Abdulaziz Yari, the former governor of Zamfara State, has been declared the winner of the Zamfara West Senate elections.
Yari defeated his closest rival, Belo S. Fagon of the HDP.
Announcing the result, Rufus Tinyola, ranking officer for Zamfara West, said that all members of the Progressive Congress, APC, candidate Yari polled a total of 147,346 to defeat Fagon, who received 5,583 votes.
The NNPP candidate got 363, while the Labor Party got 111.
The Senate District has six local governments that include Gumi, Bukoyom, Anka, Talata Mavara, Maradun, and Bakura.
