ELECTION RESULTS: Cross River Goff, Iyad lose Senate bid
Cross River State Governor Ben Ayed was defeated in the National Assembly elections on Saturday.
The incumbent senator representing the state’s northern senatorial district in the National Assembly, Senator Garigby Agum Garigby, was re-elected.
Senator Garigby, who competed under the People’s Democratic Party platform, received 76,145 votes to defeat Governor Ben Ayed of the Congress Progressive Party, who received 56,595 votes in the maneuver.
After Senator Garigby was declared the winner of the exercise in the early hours of Monday, the returning officer, Dr. Emmanuel Imangi, who spoke on behalf of the Independent National Electoral Commission, thanked the Independent National Electoral Commission stakeholders for their peaceful behavior.
Imanji also commended all the security agents for providing the required security support which always resulted in successful and credible elections.
