Election results: the youth of the East demonstrate in Apia, demanding the arrest of MC Oluomo

The Coalition of Southeast Youth Leaders, COSEYL, has demanded the arrest of Lagos State Parks Management Commission Chair, Musilio Akinsanya aka MC Olumu on charges of voter intimidation during Saturday’s elections.

The coalition alleged that MC Olumu & Sons forced officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, the Independent Electoral Commission, to alter the results of the presidential election.

In a statement issued by its general chairman, Goodluck Ibem, after the protest, the coalition also spoke to the head of the Independent Electoral Commission, Professor Mahmoud Yaqoub, saying it had been compromised.

According to the statement, most of the results falling from the states, particularly Lagos, Ekiti, Rivers and others were not the original results.

The statement read: “Before the elections, the National President, Professor Mahmoud Yacoubou, told us that the results of the Independent National Electoral Commission would be transmitted immediately from the polling units to the IEC portal. But what happened on Saturday was the opposite of what we were told.

“INEC refused to send the results to the INEC portal which gave them time and opportunity to manipulate the process. We demand that the results be annulled in those areas where there was clearly underage voting. Eligible voters as stipulated in the electoral law must be 18 years of age and above and nothing less can be accepted.

There are videos and photos showing where underage children were casting their ballots and the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) should act with this information.”
