The ACP Campaign Council criticized former President Olusegun Obasanjo, who called for the results of Saturday’s presidential elections to be annulled.
Earlier on Monday, Obasanjo urged President Muhammadu Buhari to take urgent steps to address tensions that followed allegations of inconsistencies in the election results.
He also called for canceling the elections and re-conducting them in the areas that were proven to have been affected by the compromise.
However, responding to the development in a statement, APC Campaign Council spokesperson Dele Alec accused Obasanjo of “hypocrisy” and “mischief”.
He further claimed that “what Obasanjo so skillfully calls for in his outrageous statement is a coup against democracy and the constitution”.
Alec added that “Fortunately, President Buhari is made of more refined and principled democratic stuff. He will not allow Obasanjo to tempt him to tarnish his democratic credentials in this regard.”
