Elections 2023: Three new Police Commissioners arrive in Kaduna

Ahead of Saturday’s presidential elections in Kaduna State, the Inspector General of Police has deployed three Commissioners of Police (CP) and four Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) to carry out electoral duties.

A statement issued by the Kaduna State Police Command Spokesperson, DSP Muhammad Jalegi, indicated that the officers are headed by CP Sunday Babaji, the newly appointed Commissioner of Police.

According to the statement, Babaji reassured the people of the state and all political actors of absolute neutrality and equality in the general elections on Saturday, adding that the aim of the deployment is to provide tight security before, during and after the elections.

According to him, the police will deal decisively with any rebellious element.

The other two newly appointed Commissioners of Police are Shiho S. Gwarzo (North Kaduna Senate District of Zaria) and Paul Omata (South Kaduna Senate District of Kafanchan).

The Deputy Commissioner of Police are Patrick Dawer (South Kaduna Senate District), Magaji Smaila (in charge of Zaria, Sabon Gari, Kodan and McCarvey LGAs) and Abdulaziz Sani (who will be in charge of Kubau, Ikara, Soba and Lere LGAs).

Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACP) deployed include Princewill Ijeoma, Mohammed Shamsudde and Garba Sule Yaro, among others.

Babaji called on all citizens to extend maximum cooperation to ensure the safety of all and to make use of the emergency contacts designated for the leadership when they are in danger.

The spread, according to him, has become necessary to ensure that no effort is left in providing a suitable environment for the people of the state to exercise their privilege and to prevent political bullying before, during and after the elections.
