English Premier League: Don’t try to intimidate officials – Conte warns Arteta before facing Tottenham and Arsenal

Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte said he “hates” any team that tries to intimidate referees and warned Arsenal players and coaches to respect referees when the two teams face each other on Sunday.

The FA accused Arsenal of failing to control their players in their last two matches.

Arsenal players protested their decisions in the 0-0 Premier League draw against Newcastle United and the 3-0 win over Oxford in the FA Cup on Monday.

Manager Mikel Arteta has escaped a personal charge but has been criticized by pundits for his reaction to having his penalty claim rejected in injury time against Newcastle.

Arteta shouted at fourth official Stuart Atwell and clashed with Magpies boss Eddie Howe on the touchline.

When asked if he had concerns about Arsenal trying to intimidate officials, Conte told a news conference on Friday: “You have to show respect in every situation and especially with the referee because I know very well how difficult it is to be a referee, making decisions.

“I think intimidation [the referee] Or to create a bad atmosphere is not fair. I do not like this. I hate people who try to do that.”
