Fake food worth N2m burnt in Jigawa – Consumer Protection Committee
Jigawa State Consumer Protection Commission said it has burnt adulterated food items worth 2 million naira in Babura and Gomel local areas of the state.
The commission’s chairman, Haji Farooq Abdullah Malammadori, said the items, including bags of sesame, hibiscus, fava beans and millet, were seized during the commission’s raid on Gomel and Babura markets.
According to him, the committee is working with the mobile court headed by Judge Mounir Sarki to try the perpetrators.
He reiterated that the committee will not hesitate to punish anyone found guilty of food fraud.
