The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) on Wednesday demolished the Dorome IDP camp.
A number of huts, which the government said were causing security challenges, were also demolished.
The Executive Secretary of the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), Shehu Ahmed, said the IDP camp was a dual carriageway for the railways.
Pointing out that slums are supposed to have dual modes of transportation, he laments the bad guys taking over the area.
You can imagine what kind of criminality is going on here. They are not into any meaningful work or serious activities.
“They are a nuisance not only to the neighborhood but to the entire city,” the official said.
Ahmed added that the FTA will continue to support the process to rid the nation’s capital of rowdy people.
The young man revealed that those arrested in possession of drugs and other materials during the raid will be handed over to the police.
