Fed Poly Addo-Ekiti to honor Oni, Fashula, wife of Avi Babalola in the invitation

A total of 511 out of 13,677 Federal Polytechnic alumni, Ado Ekiti will have distinction in the 18th convocation ceremonies scheduled for November 19, 2022.

Likewise, the former Lagos State Governor and Minister of Works, Babatunde Raji Fashola and One of Eve, Oba Adiyi Ogonusi will be honored with Fellowship Awards for the Foundation during the ceremony.

On Monday, in Ado Ekiti, the Dean of the Polytechnic, Dr. Hevziba Uladbay, delivered the revelation during a press conference before the invitation on the occasion of the 18th and 45th anniversary of the establishment of the prestigious institution.

Oladebeye added that other notables to receive honors include Ms. Modupe Babalola, wife of a legal icon and founder of the university, President Afe Babalola (SAN), alumni of the institution, Surv SA Fakologbon and Dr. Rotimi Ibidapo, who also graduated from the Polytechnic.

He said, “Recognizing their appreciation for their contributions to national and human development. This will also be a source of encouragement for graduates and students, to know that they too can aspire to whatever height they aim for.”

The university president, in a statement detailing the graduation list, said that the graduates include those who have successfully completed their Ordinary National Diploma and Higher Diploma courses in periods extending to 2018/2019, 2019/2020, and 2020/2021.

Oladebeye, whose term will end in four months, said the institution now has a total of 15,000 OND and HND undergraduate students, and 2,000 employees, across the academic and non-academic classes contributing to the advancement of the polytechnic.

The Dean stated that his administration has implemented more than 20 notable projects to support the physical infrastructures of the applied arts, besides ensuring regular training, retraining and development of employees and payment of some of their salaries in a timely manner.

He also expressed his happiness with the approval of the institution by the National Council for Technical Education (NBTE) and professional bodies, to run 14 new courses in diploma and higher diploma cadres, saying that this will enhance the institution’s classification at the national and global levels. .

The university president added, “By accrediting the NBTE, our polytechnic now has 36 departments running different courses. This confirms that we are developing rapidly and are well positioned to offer quality education to Nigerians.”

It was announced that the institution had struck a deal with Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, to conduct degree courses in 11 academic fields, while also affiliating with the Federal University of Technology, Minna, for degree programs in some disciplines.

He said the foundation established Adopoly FM to transmit news that would add value to the host community and the country, as well as generate employment and revenue for citizens and the Polytechnic.

While lamenting that the scarcity of funds is a major blockage in the wheel of progress, he called on motivated individuals to partner with the Polytechnic because “the government alone cannot fund any university institution.”
