The son of the former Governor-General of Northern Nigeria Alhaji Babangida Katsina has revealed how his late father General Hassan Katsina left behind N500,000 in total life savings.
Babangida made this revelation in the first public lecture organized by Katsina Hasan Usman Katsina Polytechnic, in honor of his late father.
According to him, his father bequeathed a good reputation, honesty, discipline and transparency to all his children, noting that the predicament of the Northern Region would have been a source of concern to his father if he was still alive.
He lamented, “It is a pity that the North is now corrupted by banditry, murder, kidnapping, destruction of property and rape of minors.”
He said northern leaders must rise to the occasion by taking bold steps to save the region from total destruction.
In a related speech, the daughter of the late Hassan Usman Katsina, Dr. Amina Hassan Usman, lamented the decline in the wealth of the northern region, and admonished the leaders to take care of the needy.
Former Katsina minister, Ustad Sani Abubakar Luga said as far as he knew the late Hasan Usman Katsina left only two houses, one in Katsina and the second in Kaduna.
Wazirin Katsina instructed the leaders from the north to drink the virtues from the late chief’s commitment to serving God and humanity.
