FREAKING: Old Naira notes legal tender till 31st December – High Court
The Supreme Court on Friday ordered that circulation of old naira notes should continue until December 31 this year.
The Supreme Court has ordered the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to allow both old and new naira notes to circulate side by side until the end of the year.
All directives issued by President Muhammadu Buhari regarding the redesign and circulation of the naira have been rescinded and set aside on the grounds of irregularities and abuse of executive powers.
The Supreme Court slammed President Buhari for disobeying its temporary order of February 8 to allow the circulation of the old naira.
Judge Emmanuel Akomae Agim held that the President displayed and took the insubordination to its highest level with his February 16 broadcast in which he only allowed N200 notes alone.
