The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) has directed driving officers to arrest speed limit violators.
Acting Marshal Dauda Bio issued the directive on Tuesday.
A statement issued by the General Education Officer of the Corps, Bessie Kazem, said that the cars of the defaulted drivers will be impounded.
Bio gave the order after a fatal crash along the Maiduguri – Damaturu road; 37 people lost their lives.
About 45 people were burned inside two Toyota buses and a Volkswagen Golf.
They consisted of 26 adult males, 13 adult females, three male children, and three females.
The FSC said 20 adult males, 11 adult females, three male children and three females had died.
“The remaining eight victims who were rescued alive sustained varying degrees of injuries,” Kazem noted.
The agency revealed that its preliminary investigation attributed the accident to excessive speed and a blown tire.
