Fuel scarcity: Sheikho Sani reveals those responsible

Former Nigerian MP and social critic, Shehu Sani, has blamed the recurring fuel scarcity on big oil marketers.

The former MP argued that neither President Muhammadu Buhari nor the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited, NNPCL, had officially announced the oil pump price increase.

Senator Sani revealed this in a post on his verified Twitter account on Sunday.

Remember, the country has been subject to frequent interstate fuel shortages, with some petrol filling stations selling a liter of premium spirits, PMS, as high as N500.

However, the social critic argued that since President Muhammadu Buhari had not officially raised the price of PMS, the big oil marketers should be held accountable.

He wrote: “It is clear that neither FG nor NNPCL officially raised the price of gasoline. The big marketers did it unilaterally. They are also the architect of the shortage. Time to call them out. What good is a subsidy at such an exorbitant price?”
