Ghana’s World Cup exit: Former Nigerian international blames Ayew and Amarte

Former Nigeria international Ivan Ikoko has blamed Jordan Ayew and Daniel Amarte for their poor defense that led to Uruguay scoring the first goal during the two sides’ World Cup group stage match on Friday.

Ikoko stated this during his commentary duty on the World Cup feed.

Ghana were penalized for not taking their penalty opportunity, with de Arascaita scoring twice in the first half.

“Not smart play at all from Jordan Ayew, perhaps lack of contact. This has to be dealt with, not once but twice,” Ikoko said.

“There’s no reason for Daniel Amartey to back off, he’s not under pressure. This is a wild, lopsided swing.

“It’s a decent save from goalkeeper Lawrence Atti Ziggy. He’ll be disappointed one of his team mates couldn’t make it clear. They outnumbered them a bit in the far post. Simple as you like 1-0.”
