Former Liverpool winger, Jermaine Pennant, has warned West Ham United about appointing former Chelsea coach, Rafael Benitez, as his new coach.
Benitez, who has been linked with a move to West Ham United, is the worst player to coach, said Pennant.
The 40-year-old, who played under Benitez for three seasons at Liverpool, warned Hammers of Benitez’s special trait.
According to him, Benitez is not the type of coach West Ham needs.
“Don’t bring him into your club, I just don’t think he’s what they need. To me, he’s probably the worst manager I’ve known. You don’t need that,” Pennant told talkSPORT.
“I could have played a game, scored a hat-trick, got a man of the match and maybe Rafa would have pulled me over and said; ‘You could have done this a little bit better.’ I don’t think the West Ham guys – especially with the time they’re going – are going to get results. Good under Rafa. So you have to stick to Moesi.”
West Ham is currently in the relegation zone in the English Premier League table.
They are 18th on the log with 15 points after 19 league games.
