Kaduna State 2023 gubernatorial candidate of the Kaduna State Labor Party (LP) Jonathan Asaki has said he is not in the race to scuttle the chances of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, All Progressives Congress, APC, to win in the state.
According to him, “My wish to be governor is no joke, I am a serious contender for the House of Sir Kashim Ibrahim and I remain very hopeful of winning the elections next year.”
Speaking on Tuesday in Kaduna when he faced the committee of the Southern Kaduna Peoples’ Federation (Sukapu) Political Committee, he said he has what it takes to get the people of the state out of their current predicaments.
The gubernatorial candidate explained that he had heard a strange rumor that he only wanted to block the PDP so that the APC would win, saying that it was not true.
He asked, “If the PDP truly believes the Southern Senate District is their district, why haven’t they allocated the party’s gubernatorial ticket to the district since 1999?”
He explained that now that the LLP has allocated the gubernatorial office to the southern senatorial district, the PDP is suddenly nervous, and they are spreading misinformation about his candidacy.
Mr. Asaki regretted that he had not been deterred by such mischief, affirming that he was focused on winning and that, by the grace of God, he would become the next governor of Kaduna State.
