An aggrieved gubernatorial aspirant on the PDP platform, Otunba Jimmy Adebisi Lawal, on Thursday vowed to challenge the ruling of the Federal High Court in Abuja, which dismissed his claim, in the Court of Appeal.
Reacting quickly to the dismissal of the lawsuit, he made it clear that he had received the Abuja verdict with mixed feelings.
His position on Judge Anyang Edem Eko’s ruling was stated in a statement issued by his electoral organisation.
The statement signed by Mr Austin Onyokur, Project Manager at the organization, read in part, “Jimmy Adebisi Legal Campaign Organization (JALCO) has received with mixed feelings the news of the judgment just delivered on Thursday by the Federal High Court in Abuja, in relation to the gubernatorial primaries for the chapter of Ogun State of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) held on May 25, 2022.
“Although the ruling was contrary to the issues, the facts and the law, we are relieved that our judicial system allows for appeals to the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court.
“We intend to exercise our right of appeal without any delay. We are strong in our resolve to test the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) constitution, its guidelines for primary elections and the 2022 election law. If for nothing else, it will help deepen our jurisprudence and our democracy.
Based on the above, our legal team is taking steps to appeal the ruling immediately.
“As we go through the judicial process, we would like to urge our loyal delegates, party members, supporters, leaders and elders to remain firm and steadfast, fully aware that although the wheel of justice moves slowly, it is steady and reliable. No matter how long it takes, it is the truth that prevail!”
I will appeal the court ruling on the Ogun PDP guber ticket – Jimi Lawal undertakes
