The Presidential Campaign Council of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has said that the flag bearer, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, will not honor the third edition of the Presidential Town Council meeting hosted by Arise TV.
This was stated in a statement by Bayou Onanuga, Director of Media and Publicity, APC Presidential Campaign Council.
The announcement comes on the heels of the recent withdrawal of the HDP candidate and vice president, Atiku Abubakar and Governor Ifyeni Okwa, from a similar, ‘candidate’ town council meeting hosted by Original Daria Media Concept, the Nigerian Television Authority and the MacArthur Foundation.
Remember, the series of presidential town hall meetings organized by Arise TV is scheduled for December 4, 2022.
While expressing surprise at Tinubu’s inclusion in his ad, Onanuga claimed in his statement that there was no prior consultation with him and his collaborators and no consent was obtained from the candidate.
Part of the statement read: “We have been brought to our attention an announcement by Arise News in connection with a city council meeting scheduled for December 4th.
“As we said in an earlier statement, Asiwaju Tinubu’s busy and hectic campaign schedules would not allow him to honor all invitations from various radio and television stations for discussion and/or town council meetings hence we decided not to start with one media organization and discard the others later.”
I will not be attending the Arise TV Town Hall – Tinubu meeting
