Unidentified gunmen suspected of being bandits were reported to have killed the traditional leader Alhaji Kogo Hamza Abdullah in Yankuzu Principality of Zamfara State.
A resident who asked not to be named explained in a telephone interview with the Daily Post that the district chief was ambushed and killed by bandits while returning from work on Friday.
“The bandits attacked his cars and shot him twice in an attempt to kidnap him,” he said.
According to sources from the community, King was killed around 8:30 pm.
“The terrorists could not kidnap him, so they killed him and fled,” he said.
The Daily Mail also revealed that the king was taken to Yariman Bakura Specialist Hospital in Gosau for urgent medical attention and later died in the middle of the night.
