On Wednesday, the Jigawa state branch of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) debunked media reports that about 1,500 of its members had defected to the ruling All-Progressive Congress (APC).
Issa Bello Gwadaye, the party’s secretary, described the report as falsehood perpetrated by those caught up in the winds of change that will soon blow over the state.
The minister clarified that he is indigenous to Buji local government and resides there as well, stressing that there is no village or community known as Iliruwa as mentioned in some media reports.
He said, “As an Aboriginal in the Bugei Local Government Area and residing in the Local Government Area, there is no village in the area with the name Illirowa.
“Secondly, what does the APC member representing Buji in the Jigawa State House of Representatives who ensures that another member representing another local government (Birnin Kudo) does not come but sends someone to represent him to receive ordinances?
Third, no local government party chiefs from the GPC from Buji and party elders attended.
According to the state’s PDP writer, the deconstruction report was nothing less than the imagination of those behind it, adding that such a disingenuous report should not have come from a political party in power.
