Many residents who spoke to the DAILY POST in Kaduna, on Sunday, lamented the dramatic increase in the prices of food, ingredients and basic necessities.
Before now, Mr. James Madaki, a resident of Narayi community in Kaduna, said that he used to eat three square meals a day with his five children and wife, but now the story is different because his meager salary cannot afford even the ingredients of the meal. .
Mrs. Williams Janet, a widow with seven children in the community of Nasarawa, expressed her outrage at the high food prices.
I lost my husband in January 2022, when bandits broke into our home in Nasarawa. My five children and I ran away, but my husband was kidnapped. After they demanded millions, which we could not afford, they slaughtered him.
According to her, the family’s situation went from bad to worse after losing her breadwinner, adding that they now eat once a day.
Mr. Samuel Nduga, who resided in Kajuru, also said that he eats with his family twice a day and once on Sunday.
Miss Angela Makama, an undergraduate student at Kaduna University in Goni Gora community, said she sometimes eats once a day due to the high cost of food items in the market.
I am from Nasarawa state, studying in Kaduna. I only got transportation cash and meal ticket 300N per day. Therefore, I managed to eat once a day.
