Kogi Assembly passes Governor Belo’s N172 billion budget for 2023
Kogi State House of Representatives on Friday approved N172,090,789,292 for the 2023 budget of Kogi State.
It is noteworthy that the governor, Yahya Bello, submitted in November the draft budget to the House of Representatives for consideration and approval.
Chairman of the House Committee on Finance, Appropriations, Budget, Oversight and Economic Planning Adironkie Aru said that the committee, after considering the appropriations bill, is advancing the sum of one hundred, one billion, three hundred and one. Forty-five million eighteen thousand one hundred and forty-one Naira (N101,345,018,141) only is appropriated from the Kogi State Consolidated Revenue Fund for recurring expenditure of the State Government.
Aru added that the sum of seventy billion seven hundred forty-five million seven hundred sixty-nine thousand one hundred and fifty-one naira (70745769151 naya) will be appropriated only from the Consolidated Revenue Fund of the Kogi State Government for capital expenditure.
However, during the defense period, the committee changed budget allocations from one law to another in line with economic reality. My esteemed colleague, Committee on Appropriations, Budgetary Control and Economic Planning, I recommend this esteemed house a “balanced budget” of one hundred and seventy-two billion ninety-million seven hundred and eighty-seven thousand two hundred one hundred and one. Ninety,” he added.
When the House set up the Supply Committee, the members, led by Speaker of the House Prince Matthew Kolawole, considered the report item by paragraph before passing it into law.
This is the latest budget approval by the Seventh Assembly in Kogi State.
